St. Wenceslaus Happenings

Wednesday, March 4: St. Wenceslaus Lenten Program. Holy Hour and Benediction at 5:30 p.m., Father’s presentation at 6:15 p.m., and Soup at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome.

Recycle your religious articles!  A Religious recycling group will be stopping by St. Wenceslaus Church to collect religious items that need a new home.  Accepted items are Statues, Rosaries, (broken are accepted), Crucifixes, Medals, Holy Cards, Framed Pictures, Prayer Books and Bibles, as well as Musical Instruments, no Pianos or Organs.  Items they will not take are Pamphlets, Angel Figurines (Saint Angels are accepted), Religious Books, and Wax Candles.  There will be a pick-up day in early April at St. Wenceslaus.  The drop-off date and place will be announced later.

The Jubilee Year of St Francis, proclaimed by His Holiness Pope Leo XIV on January 10, 2026, commemorates the 800-anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi.  This jubilee is a opportunity for a continuation of spiritual renewal while imitating the life of holiness modeled by St. Francis.  Pilgrims can obtain a plenary indulgence by making a pilgrim age to “any Franciscan conventual church, or place of worship in any part of the world named after St. Francis.  St. Francis in Traverse City is one of the pilgrimage sites.

During Lent, Stations of the Cross will be prayed after both the Saturday evening and Sunday morning Masses.  Readers and Altar Servers of the day are asked to stay and lead.

There will be a Yard Sale and Raffle this year.  Please save your no longer needed gently used, clean treasures.

Let Deacon Martin know what you will donate for raffle prizes.  Even though the Church will be on “Limited Use,” the Parish will still need money to pay for heat, electricity, insurance, lawn care, and maintenance.  Thankfully, a number of parishioners gave prizes last year.  Think about gift cards of any sort, craft or wood making creations, garden or orchard produce, or a monetary donation.  Please consider donating a prize, a hearty thanks to those who have already done so.

On Fri, March 13, there will be a Holy Hour followed by a Fish Dinner at St. Wenceslaus that includes fish, potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and Cole slaw, dessert and beverage.  Save the date!

Rest in Peace: The Parish extends its sympathy to the Wigton Family on the passing of Jan Wigton, the wife of Deacon Doug Wigton and Fathers Matthew and Peter Wigton.  She passed away on Friday, February 20 after a year long illness.  In your kindness, please pray for the repose of her soul; and comfort for her family.  She leaves 8 other children, their spouses and many grand children.  Funeral services were on Saturday at Holy Rosary Church in Cedar.
Grant Eternal Rest unto her, O Lord, and let Perpetual Light shine upon her.
